- THE INTRODUCER

- Welcome to the Introducer. Now you can create your own scrolling demos! Use
- your own pictures, your own sounds, and of course, your own text files. I
- have seen many different demos and always thought how nice it would be to
- use my own files. Well since no one else has put one together that allows you
- to customize it, I decided to put one together that I could change for many
- different applications. So can you! It is very simple to use. It will accept
- any IFF Lo-res picture and any IFF digitized sound. It will play the music in
- Stereo! Well what it really does is play the sound in all 4 channels. Not
- true stereo but it sure sounds good! Just load up your favorite text editor
- and put in what ever text you want to scroll. It will scroll twenty different
- lines of text. Scroll from left to right, right to left, or simply have it
- appear in the middle. It will scroll accross the top, the center, or the
- bottom of the screen. Also included in this arc file is a sample demo I put
- together for the Tampa Bay Amiga Group's Disk of the Month Collection plus a
- listing of all the disks available from Merlin's Software. Make the Big Time
- with the INTRODUCER!
-
- Enjoy...

- Instructions:
-
- The Introducer is very simple to use. It will use any IFF lo-res picture. To
- use your own just rename it to Intro.Pic and place it in the same directory
- as the Introducer. It will not work with HAMs or other formats, but if I get
- alot of response from this maybe I will make another version that does. You
- can use any digitized sound file also. To use your own, rename the file as
- Intro.Sound and place in the same directory. If the program does not find a
- file called Intro.Sound, it will bypass the music and load the picture and
- text. I did it this way in case some of you have Mark Riley's Play program.
- You can run the Play command first then load the Introducer. There are alot
- of nice Sonix songs out there so just try it both ways. When you use any
- digitized sound it plays it in all four channels. Not true stereo but it
- sounds alot better than straight mono. WARNING: Do not use this if you have
- another program running that uses sound (ex. CLI-WIZARD). If you do you will
- get a visit from you know who!
-
- This program was designed to be put in the startup-sequence. Just cd to the
- directory and run Introducer. An icon is included to let you run it from
- Workbench also. Now for the text. Load up the file called Intro.Text. The
- first line (the one in the box) is your intro line. It appears while the
- program loads the sound file. Since most sound files are so large, I thought
- it would be nice to say "One Moment Please" or something to that effect. If
- you do not use a sound file you should leave this blank. You now have 20
- lines of text you can scroll. Just replace the current lines with your own
- text. Do not change the length of the lines. They need to be that length for
- the program to read in the file correctly. You will notice two characters at
- the end of each line. These tell the Introducer how you want that line to
- appear. The 1st character tells whether to scroll right to left *R*, left to
- right *L*, or appear in the center *C*. The next character tells whether to
- scroll at the top *T*, the center *C*, or the bottom *B*. Make sure that
- these are in CAPITAL letters.
-
- The program does not multi-task well. It would slow down the scrolling so I
- made it take over so it would not. You can still load files in the background
- but forget about anything else.
-
- Well that about does it. Oh yes, to exit the program just click the left
- mouse button or it will continue to loop through the text. I hope you find a
- use for this.

- This version is released as Shareware.
